The Alice Springs Marathon has been held yearly since The Alice Springs Running & Walking Club's inception in 1979. The Marathon was recognised nationally and internationally as an extremely friendly and well-organised event, attracting interstate and international competitors and local entrants.
2018 was the last time the event was held.
2025 will bring the return of this genuinely well-regarded marathon to Australia's running calendar. We look forward to bringing this event with a renewed vision for 2025 and the future.

It takes you through the stunning bushland of the Tjoritja / West MacDonnell National Park, and you get incredible views of the ranges throughout. The turnaround point is just before the Path ends, and you'll get to return the way you came, taking in the views of the ranges, still, and enjoying the incredible National Park.
You'll know you're on the tail end when you catch sight of Simpsons Gap again, and it will be full steam ahead down Darken Drive.
